I can’t even view my stats, and my frailty is such that a mere stumble can lead to my demise. What does this all mean?”
Shikigi Yuuri serves as a substitute teacher at the Nijou Crane Academy, the real-life backdrop of the school. On his first day there, he embarks on a journey into the “XR” world, an online game managed by the school. After a few hours, he safely reenters reality following his in-game demise.
From then on, he finds himself under a relentless curse: daily, after school, he’s compelled to return to the game world, and his return to reality follows any in-game death. It’s worth mentioning that all his students who engage in the game are… a tad eccentric.
He lacks true companions, and none of them are entirely sane. Nevertheless, he perseveres, striving day in and day out to break the curse. His strength is insufficient for direct confrontation, so he must collaborate with select students, issuing commands from the shadows:
- Eiko: An assassin fixated on eliminating the protagonist.
- Suika: A saintly figure willing to go to extremes to protect the vulnerable.
- Minami: A self-paced mage consumed by an insatiable thirst for knowledge.
- Towa: A headstrong knight who refuses to heed anyone and a determined young lady.
- Kiki: A hero indifferent to the salvation of the world.
